Mainstream Chopper Shoot-out
« on: January 14, 2008, 09:28:29 PM »
Was over at motorcycle.com and was reading the lastest reviews on bikes.  I recommend taking a stop on their site and reading up on it youself if your into Choppers.  It was a bit of a long read, but every second was worth it.  I was going to try and do something up like I had for the sports bikes, but the scores and such were done quite a bit different, so I will not be able to do the sum up.  Sorry guys, I I tried for like an hour but it just didn't look right.

I will however say that the bikes that they were looking at were the:
Star Raider S
Victory Vegas Jackpot
Harley-Davidson FXCWC Rocker C

The Star Raider S came out on top.  Was voted best with style, fell, look and design.  Personally I have not had the privillage to ride any of these bikes, but I would say from reading they did a good job comparing them up.  Take a read yourself and leave your comments if you think otherwise, would be a great descussion topic :)

I’m a little bias because I own one but... the article was just a small part of what sold me when I was in the market for a new ride, price and power played a major role. We can’t take looks into consideration for that’s a totally subjective thing (too many variables... chrome, paint, availability of mods, line and layout). That being stated I’m a self confessed chrome whore and should seek counselling but instead purchased the red S model with the tribal flames.

Pros:  For a bike that’s 8 feet long and weighs 695 pounds (dry) it handles like a ride half its size.
The mill is impressive as 1854cc 113ci has lots of torque and delivers a modest 46 mpg if you don’t keep twisting your left wrist like
         a mad man.
for a bike that was introduced in 2008 there are plenty of assessories available both through Yamaha and after market manufactures
Cons: only has 5 speed transmission although a 6th gear would defanatly buy me a speeding ticket
transmission a little cluncky when shifting through 1st to 3rd, synthetic oil has helped quite this a lot
fairly small gas tank, great for my a$$ but some would rather travel longer distances without stopping for fuel

FYI The Raider won the Metric Cruser Award for 2008. If anyone has any questions about the Raider or Raider S I’d be glad to answer them.
