Hi. My Name Is Rod
« on: April 09, 2010, 06:07:43 PM »
Hi Everyone. I just registered. I had always said I would have another bike when I was 60. Well, on my 60th birthday last August, I bought a new 2009 Yamaha V-Star 650 Classic. I tell you, I'm 40 years younger already!  :)

I had a couple of bikes when I was in my 20's but had never drove one until I bought this one. Learning to drive and own a bike all over again, though things are coming back to me pretty quickly. The feel of the freedom on the road compared to driving my car is hard to put into words, as I know many of you feel the same thing.

Anyhow, just wanted to say hello and look forward to your posts and, I'm sure that advice will be there if I ask for opinions and information.

Thanks and safe riding......Rod

Welcome to the forum Rod and by the way nice bike. I've always found that riding has given me a sense of freedom. Getting back in the saddle again can present some challenges as I too took a few years off from riding. When I did return to biking I took a motorcycle refresher coarse, believe me it was money well spent. It's only eight hours (two four hour sessions) and the hints, advice, skills and practice were invaluable. I met lots of wonderful people and got a discount on my insurance as well.  Here's the link http://www.safetyservicesns.com/MTP/index.php   Hope to hook up or see you on the road. Keep the shinny side up.
Cheers

now see, I never did get a discount on  my insurance, they told me the course didn't do anything only the amount of time I had been riding

Welcome aboard.... Glad to see anyone with an interest in riding join right in..

I too didn't get a "Safety Discount"... well.. if $20.00 counts??  But I did manage to save $150.00 by switching companies within my brokers office...
