Rusty Riding Skills
« on: March 17, 2010, 10:24:54 AM »
For some of us the riding season has just begun or will in the next few weeks. I find not being on my bike for three or four months takes a toll on my riding skills so when I first start riding again it’s always a few hours in vacant parking lots and roads that are less travelled just to get the feel of things again. Most can tear down the road in a straight line... it’s slow manoeuvres, breaking techniques and awareness skills that help keep us from having an un-planned up close and personal relationship with the pavement beneath. Practice, practice, practice. It could save your life. Here’s some info and an exercise in rider perception that you run through a few times to hone your skills.  http://www.msf-usa.org/riderperception/
