NS BIKERS (Squid) with Q's

Hi
My name is Alan. I live in Northeastern Pennsylvania. I ride a 2003 BMW K1200RS. My friends and I have a loosly knit group we call the Curve Cravers. The name alone says it. Our rides be it a Sunday ride or an 8 day journey are virtually "slab free". I am developing an 7 day ride from the Wilkes-Barre Scranton PA are to the Maritine Provinces and back around to Quebec City . I was hoping I'd be able to get some info from some of you regarding good local roads and motels places of interest, good local flavor (pubs, bars restaurantslocal fairs etc.) along our route.
The inital plan is to take the Bar Harbor to Yarmouth Ferry on a Monday morning and make our way to Halifax NS, Charlottetown , PEI Miramichi NB and Edmundston NB to Quebec City.
Any and all input would be appreicated.
Best
Alan

Start here, with the bikers tour guide. If the 2010 guide is ready they will send it to you. It used to be free.

Guys
Thanks for the quick replies and the website info. It is always helpful to have some eyes on the ground up there.
Things like , good reasonable motels close to the good pubs etc. Inital plan is to to arrive in Yarmouth via ferry then
ride to Halifax. Stay 1 nite Then on to Chalottetown PEI stay 1 nite Then on to Beresford or Tide Head NB Stay 1 nite Then on to Quebec
Thanks for any and all input!

do you plan to take the Ferry to PEI or the Bridge? In Halifax, you should hit up the waterfront. Almost any time of the day or night you can find fellow riders down there.

If after Halifax you did the Cabot Trail before heading to NB you would not be sorry as it's a great ride.

Halifax sounds like a great place (got any any names of motels within walking distance of the Waterfront! )
I've seen the ferry from Cariboo park! Any suggestions on that route versus the bridge.
Also , I have read about Cabot Trail . Seems like a must do. What is the official route # of it? What town to what town?
Thanks Alan

The Casino Hotel is right on the waterfront, connected to the Casino its a bit pricey very nice though. Mind you the nice thing about Halifax is that its fairly small, meaning that you can get almost anywhere in Halifax from anywhere else in Halifax in under an hour. Used to take me 10min to get from Bedford to the waterfront when I worked for HP. Point being, almost anywhere you want to stay is pretty close to everything important. Might be worth checking a few places out once your getting ready to leave as the prices change from season to season.
If you end up taking the Ferry, I suggest taking a tour into the town of Pictou while your that way. Awesome little town with some nice sights. Once again not very big, so not a huge time taker, but well worth it. As for how to get there, its really up to what you want to do with your ride. You can take back roads and see lots of small parks and farm land (usually nice sights, not the best of roads but not horrible), or you can head down the highway and make some time. Still some places to pull off and get some sights in. Or you can do some of both! Great thing is that the way from Halifax to the North is that there is tons of ways to do it.
To hit the Cabot trail your looking at adding on some time to your trip. You would have to bypass the way into PEI and head up to Cape Breton. Don’t get me wrong, its totally worth it, just expect about a day setback as the ride will take some time, and you will want some time to enjoy the Trail itself. Here’s some link with a bit more info on the trail:

Lots on info and places to stay. If you do decide to head that way, let me know as you will be traveling right though my little town here ? Nice Tim Horton/Wendey’s Combo that you can find bike at almost anytime, good place to meet and chat for a bit, maybe show you some of the sights around here if you were interested.
The trail I think is pretty much its own route, not super sure though, I know that it connects to HWY 312 somewhere if that’s any help to you?

This info is real helpful! We like staying right in the mix of things. Don't need any fancy digs. A simple motel room within walking distance to a bar and restaurant is the objective. I can see that doing the Cabot Trail will add some time on to our journey but it is just what we're looking for. It is now in the plan!! Out of the way places with lots of local color!
I see the ferries that go into Yarmouth may be discontinued! That will change things drastically for our trip and certainly for those that have become dependent on them.
Any of the latest news on that would be helpful as well.
