Flashing brake light modulator.
« on: July 06, 2009, 10:54:19 PM »
I have been tapin my brakes to get the same effect for awhile now.( When I have time to) I had heard that it gets a trailing drivers attention better. I've read about modulators and flashers even seen some on eBay, but so far have not really seen one in action. Well today i was behind an ambulance that had them. The light would flash three times then go solid. Yep it gets your attention. So now I am on a mission to find them local. I mean how many times have you noticed that cage get too close to your rear when stopping.

I've seen them on bikes before when I was living in Halifax actually.  As for the locally, good luck finding them at the shop.  You might be able to get them to order them in now, but before they looked at them as a light mod (which they are) and some shops would fail your MVI cause of them.  No idea why, but I had heard complaints on other forums about that.  Your best bet would be to hit up ebay.  I have seen them on there with the board built into the bulbs.  Basiclly you would pop your tail light cover off, pull your old bulbs and the new LED boards would fit right in.  Will do some looking around ebay and ask a few other riders here, for some reason I think they come stock on some kind of bike now?

If they put them on Provincial Ambulances it may be that only emergency vehicles will be allowed to have them.

there are laws about flashing lights.  But as for red lights facing the back your in the clear :)

(any blue light is a no no, and any flashing red light that can be seen from the front is a no no, other then that your pretty much in the clear.  Had a nice police officer explain it out to me one night when my LED kit started to act up and flash on me :P  He was pretty kewl about it though)

[also them valve cap lights are a pretty big no no too :D, yeah I had the 550 all posered up lol)

nope, can't stop you from that.  And you are 100% safe for the law with the modular tail lights too, so long as its not your headlights or red lights facing forward.

No luck finding one yet. Ebay has spinners but I don't think those go solid when you Brake.

I saw that set-up on a Victory two weeks ago in Upper Sackville. Tail light flashed several times very quickly then went solid red. Might be worth checking out the Victory dealership.
Remember, wherever you go... there you are.
Cheers

Not installed yet. Can't get to work on the bike, It sort of got buried in the storage garage at work. THATS ANOTHER STORY IN ITSELF. The module is called BackOFF XP . http://www.signaldynamics.com/products/Modules/xp.asp
