How do you beat the cooler weather?
« on: September 18, 2008, 08:34:54 AM »
So as the year goes on we are seeing the weather getting cooler.  What are you doing to beat the cold?  Or are you getting ready to put the bike away for the year?  I think I might push my luck and see if I can keep riding right untill the first snow, always been a good plan up to this point :P Warm clothes and reduced speed (also very short drives) are what I'm doing, but was wondering if there were other things people do that might be good to know?

Not sure yet..this is my first fall with the bike so only time will tell..but after October 8th, I don't imagine I'll be riding it too often as duck hunting starts and most of my time is in the blind..

Thankfully, where I live we don't really get very cold weather, just the odd, crisp morning with the occasional frost.
can't beat wearing tights (pantyhose) under the jeans, my hubby and my Dad used to, or some longjohns, although as a young lady I find I have to sew up the front (surplus to requirements!) A good quality silk scarf also warms the air as you breathe so avoiding those dry tickly coughs that abound in winter, plus it don't fog up your visor, and there's no bulk under the jacket.
Don't have your boots too tight either or you'll feel the cold more in yer wee tootsies!
If all else fails get the car out!!
