BMW Sportbike?

Anyone here anything about the BMW sportbike?  I hardly know much about it except whats on their site.  When did it come on to the scene?  I didn't think BMW was ever going to make a sport bike

BMW have been relatively competitive in the Canadian Thunder class of the Parts Canada Superbike series for a number of years.  Their bikes were just never fully faired until about 4 years ago or so.  That's when everyone started to take notice of them as sportbikes.  They are still priced higher than they are worth IMO though.

yeah the prices on them scared me.  Guess I was one of them that didn't notice they were sprot bikes :\

There is a new BMW sportbike that's going to be put into the World Superbike series next year...looks good too...rumored to be in the $20K range.
